There’s nothing we enjoy more than upgrading an older bike with some new swag. In this instance, our customer brought us a 2011 Sworks Epic that was already meticulously cleaned and maintained. However, they wanted to take it one step further and internalize all the cable routing through the frame. Needless to say, it looks gooooooood.
The process is nowhere near as simple as it seems, and one cannot and SHOULD NOT just “go and drill some holes” in the frame. That would be unwise. We first stabilized the area by laying up several layers of prepreg twill over the area where we wanted to install the grommets. We also had to remove all the old cable stops and repaint over them. The process requires tinkering but ultimately it gives a new look to a bit of an older bike.
