So, you’ve decided on a completely custom bike. Rad. That’s awesome. Kudos to you for supporting your local, small (or both!) frame builders. But what happens when custom carbon fails after a decade? Well, that’s where Ruckus can help. This Dedaccia custom carbon fiber bike frame arrived at Ruckus with what some though to be catastrophic frame damage at the bottom bracket lugs. They were cracking in several places and both the owner and his shop thought the bike to be out of commission. Not so. As always, we removed the damaged areas so no cracks would propagate farther, but then the tricky part came. Our repair wizards measured and mocked up the BB area, cutting (first) paper to design new wraps for that area. After, we moved to cutting actual twill carbon pieces, vacuum forming them around the bottom bracket. Then we began the extensive clean up process before the bike was able to head on over to clear coat. We can’t wait for our customer to see this one. Have a custom, one-off carbon bike that’s experiencing damage issues? Get in touch with us, we absolutely can fix that.
