Trek Slash 9.8 Bottom Bracket Repair

Let’s face it. Carbon fiber mountain bike frames are susceptible to damage pretty much any way you ride it. Rock gardens, trees, roots, drops, hits and whips all add the allure and intensity of riding on trails, but one wrong move over any of these features can spell disaster for a frame. The bottom bracket of any bike is open to damage due to the close relationship of it and the ground below and this becomes exaggerated with a full suspension bike. Our customer sent us this Trek Slash 9.8 carbon fiber frame after mistiming a take-off, crushing his BB shell against a rock on the lip. Although a common fix for us, this bike took much wet sanding and casting to bring it back life.
